FxPro Kenya, Checked Before You Fund an Account

Seven checks you can run yourself from Kenya — documents, account type, the shilling-to-dollar step, the platform clock, a demo week, a small withdrawal and your login — before real money goes in. CFDs carry a high risk of losing money.

FxPro is a forex and CFD broker founded in 2006, and according to FxPro it accepts residents of Kenya who are of legal age. Registration itself takes a few minutes; the slower part is identity verification, which FxPro says is usually finished the same day. This page is not a pitch. It lists what you can confirm on your own before the first deposit: the documents to have ready, which of the five account types matches how you trade, what happens when a shilling card pays a dollar minimum, and how to test a withdrawal while the amount is still small.

The name on the McLaren cars

FxPro has been an Official Partner of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team since 2018, and the agreement was renewed again in 2026. On race weekends the name appears on the cars, on driver helmets and on team kit.

The renewal came after McLaren's 2025 season, when the team took the Constructors' title and Lando Norris won the Drivers' title. A sponsorship tells you the brand is large and visible. It says nothing about the spread you will pay tonight, which is why the checks below still matter.

Who it suits, and where it falls short

If you want one number per trade and no separate charge to reconcile, MT4 Standard is the plain choice. If you open and close positions many times a week, run the per-lot sum from Check 2 below before you settle on Raw+ or cTrader — for frequent trading that is usually where the cost difference shows.

There are limits worth knowing up front. cTrader has no fixed-spread version. The education section is lighter than at some rivals, so a beginner will lean on outside material. An inactivity fee applies once an account has seen no activity for six months, which matters if you plan to fund now and trade later.

Check 1 — the paperwork, before you press open

FxPro asks for a valid email address, your residential details, a government-issued photo ID (a passport or a driving licence) and a proof of address such as a recent utility bill or bank statement.

Have both documents scanned before you start. The most common delay is not FxPro, it is a bill that is too old, a blurred photo of an ID, or an address typed differently from the one printed on the document. Write your address in the form exactly as it reads on the bill, including the estate or building name.

Do not plan to register, fund and trade on the same evening. Verification is usually same-day but can take longer, and nothing is lost by leaving a margin of a day.

Check 2 — match the account to how often you trade

The five accounts price trades in two different ways. MT4 Standard quotes spreads from 1.2 pips and MT5 from 1.4 pips, with no separate charge: what you see is what you pay. MT4 Raw+ and cTrader quote from 0.0 pips and add $3.50 per lot on each side, so a full round turn on one standard lot costs $7 on top of the spread.

Here is the sum to do yourself. On EUR/USD one pip on a standard lot is worth about $10, so the $7 charge equals roughly 0.7 of a pip. Raw+ is cheaper whenever the raw spread plus 0.7 pip stays below the Standard spread at the hours you actually trade. Take both readings at your own trading time, not at the quietest moment of the day.

Our spread and cost page turns quoted spreads into money per lot, and live spreads shows how they move hour by hour. If the sum favours raw pricing, the Raw+ account page covers the details. FxPro Edge lists its charge as variable, so check the figure inside the platform before comparing it with the others.

Check 3 — shillings in, dollars on the account

The minimum deposit is stated in US dollars: $100. If your card or bank account is in Kenyan shillings, your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add its own foreign-transaction fee. FxPro says it does not charge a deposit fee, but that does not cover what your bank or wallet takes.

Ask your bank one question before the first top-up: what it charges on a dollar card payment or an outgoing international transfer. That single figure decides whether a card, a bank wire or an e-wallet such as Skrill, Neteller or PayPal is cheaper for you.

Choose carefully, because the first method is also your exit route. FxPro pays withdrawals back by the same method you deposited with.

Check 4 — read the platform clock, not your phone

MetaTrader 4 and 5 show FxPro server time, not Nairobi time (EAT). Candle closes, session statistics and the daily rollover all follow the server clock, so convert before you decide when to trade.

Holding overnight costs or pays a swap only if the position is still open at the rollover, around server midnight. Long and short positions carry separate rates, and Wednesday night is charged three times to cover the weekend. Read the long and short figures in the platform before you hold, then compare them with our swap measurements.

Spreads may widen around the market open and close and during news. The trading hours page lines the sessions up against your local time.

Check 5 — a demo week on the platform you will really use

FxPro offers a free demo account with no time limit. Use it on the same platform you plan to fund — MT4, MT5, cTrader and FxPro Edge differ in order types, chart tools and how they display margin.

Place the kind of trade you intend to place for real, at the hour you intend to place it. Note the spread at entry, the margin the platform holds, and what one pip moves in dollars. The margin calculator gives a figure to hold the platform against; if the two disagree, find out why before you deposit.

Check 6 — a small withdrawal early

Once the account is funded, request a small withdrawal back to the method you used. It is the cheapest way to learn how the route behaves while little is at stake.

FxPro says e-wallet payouts are typically handled the same business day and card payouts within one business day, while international bank wires take three to five business days. FxPro does not charge a withdrawal fee on most methods; your provider still may.

Support works 24 hours a day from Monday to Friday. A request sent late on Friday can wait for the next business day, so test on a weekday.

Check 7 — secure the login before money arrives

Everything sits behind one sign-in, the FxPro Direct client area: deposits, withdrawals, documents and the accounts for each platform. Turn on two-factor authentication there first. The mobile app can also sign you in with a one-time passcode instead of a password.

Keep the support contacts where you can find them. The current phone numbers and email addresses for your region are listed in the Contact section of the client area, and live chat answers on weekdays; our contact page sets out which channel suits which problem.

The first seven days, in order

  1. Day 1: scan the ID and a recent bill, then register with the address written exactly as on the bill.
  2. Day 1–2: wait for verification and, meanwhile, open the demo on the platform you intend to use.
  3. Day 2–4: trade the demo at your usual hours; write down spread, margin and the value of one pip.
  4. Day 4: do the per-lot sum from Check 2 and pick Standard or a raw-priced account.
  5. Day 5: ask your bank about its dollar payment charge, then fund with the minimum or a little more.
  6. Day 5–6: place one small real trade and compare the cost with your demo notes.
  7. Day 6–7: request a small withdrawal on a weekday and note how long it takes to arrive.

Skipping a step is your call; doing them in this order means each one is tested before more money depends on it.
